How It Works

The process is designed to get from first conversation to confident decision as quickly as possible. No drawn-out discovery phases, no vague deliverables, no waiting three weeks for a proposal. The consulting is structured, time-bounded, and specific to the project from the first call.

Step 1 — The intro call

The paid intro call is where every engagement starts. It runs 45–60 minutes and covers the actual project: what you’re building, where, what the site conditions are, what’s been decided already, and what hasn’t. By the end of that call, most clients have a clear initial direction on panel type, manufacturer category, and what additional work is needed.

This is not a sales call. It is a working session. The cost reflects that — the intro call is a paid engagement because it delivers real value from the first minute.

Step 2 — Scope definition

After the intro call, the scope of the engagement is defined clearly. Depending on the project, that might be:

  • A single deliverable — an engineering stamp on existing plans
  • A defined service package — panel selection, value engineering, and contractor review for a residential build
  • An ongoing project engagement — full consulting from panel specification through installation oversight on a commercial project

Scope is agreed in writing before work begins. Deliverables are specific, not vague.

Step 3 — The work

What happens next depends on what was scoped. Common deliverables include:

  • Panel specification document — written spec covering panel type, core material, thickness, and manufacturer recommendation for each assembly in the project
  • Value engineering report — line-by-line review of current specifications with cost-reduction recommendations that maintain performance
  • Plan review memo — written notes on SIP-specific issues in the current plan set, with recommended revisions
  • Engineering stamps — stamped drawings valid for permitting in the project’s jurisdiction
  • Contractor evaluation — written assessment of a proposed SIP contractor’s qualifications and track record
  • Site inspection report — written findings from an on-site visit, with any installation deficiencies noted and corrective actions recommended

Step 4 — Build with confidence

The goal of every consulting engagement is the same: the client goes into their build knowing exactly what panel they’re using, why, and what to expect from it. They’ve vetted their contractor. Their plans are reviewed. Their engineering is stamped. The decisions that typically create problems have been made with expert input instead of guesswork.

Most clients report that the cost of consulting was recovered in the first round of contractor negotiations. Some recover it on panel pricing alone.

Service packages

Five structured packages cover the most common engagement types, from under-1,500 sf residential to large commercial and specialty projects. Each package defines what’s included and drives toward a single outcome: a call to confirm fit and get started.
